Appointment of National Chair
The Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, the Rt Hon. Alex Chalk KC MP has today announced the appointment of Elisabeth Davies as the National Chair of the Independent Monitoring Boards (IMBs) for an initial term of three years, from 1 July 2023 until 30 June 2026.
Elisabeth Davies said: “I’m joining the IMB National Board at a time of great importance for both the prison and immigration detention estate. The value and need for the independence, commitment and diligence of the unpaid public appointees, providing Ministers and the public with vital assurance about the conditions and treatment of those held in prisons and immigration detention, has never been greater. They will have my support and my commitment to ensuring their impact is as great as it can be”.
